Former Argentine footballer Sergio Aguero believes Norwegian player Erling Haaland has the potential to be the next generation Lionel Messi and will hold breaking records.
What did Aguero say about Erling Haaland?
Sergio Aguero has declared that the Man City striker is a generational talent and has placed him in the same bracket as some of the legends of the sport such as Brazilian legend Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi. Sergio believes that if Erling maintains this consistency, he will continue to break records in the coming years.
The former Argentina international said there were plenty of strikers worthy of awe he can think of. According to Sergio Aguero, one of his favorites was Ronaldo Nazario, who time after time proved to be a complete package as a player and a threat to goalkeepers. Sergio says that each era usually has two or three players with this ability – and usually with different styles. Messi, Romario, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic, and Maradona of course! Each had their own flair, but they were all huge scorers at fault.
Speaking specifically about Erling, he has a vigor, athleticism and a special instinct for targets, which makes him very dangerous. Haaland have everything they need to keep collecting amazing stats, especially being part of an offensively minded team like Manchester City. This in turn means plenty of opportunities to score. Aguero further added that Erling Haaland is young and has great potential to keep breaking records. The key to this, of course, will be consistency.
