Sergio Aguero believes he will never be able to sprint again and is now concerned that his heart ‘doesn’t operate correctly’ as a result of his forced retirement from sport.

A tear-filled Due to a heart issue, Aguero announced his retirement from football at the age of 33 in an emotional news appearance in December. He collapsed on the ground holding his chest and was treated for several minutes before walking away and being transported to the hospital. After then, the Argentinian was diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). Now, Aguero, who was spotted playing tennis last month, has opened up about his health problems, admitting that his heart ‘doesn’t work properly.’

‘If I try to play football anymore, I run out of breath,’ the 33-year-old revealed in a Twitch video about his health.

‘I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to sprint again.’ ‘I just have the feeling that my heart isn’t working properly.’

Aguero made his name in European football when he joined Atletico Madrid in 2006 and then moved to City in 2011.

His first season at the Etihad Stadium finished with a career highlight when his injury-time winner against QPR stole first place from Manchester United and delivered City their first title since 1968.

He won five Premier League crowns, six League Cups, and an FA Cup during his ten years at the club, scoring 260 goals in 390 matches.

His final City appearance culminated in the misery of a Champions League final defeat by Chelsea, and his 2014 World Cup final loss to Germany was another low point in his career.

Although he helped Argentina win the Copa America in 2021, Aguero only scored once for Barcelona in five games, in a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid.

When he was ‘put in a little room alone with monitors’ as doctors did tests on him in hospital last year, he realized his heart problem was serious, he told earlier this month.

‘I had a difficult time for the first 15 days,’ Aguero admitted on Twitch.

‘I believed it was nothing and that I would be alright when it happened, but when I got to the hospital, they put me in a small room by myself with a lot of monitors around me.’

‘I sensed something wasn’t right. And after two days in the hospital, I started to feel anxious.’
