Roma will be hopeful of avenging that loss, as they qualified for the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals in midweek and are unbeaten in eight Serie A matches.

AS Roma

For the first time in over two years, more than 50-thousand fans will attend the ‘Derby della Capitale’, as Roma and Lazio do battle in the 158th top-flight edition of this fixture. The Stadio Olimpico atmosphere is always electric, but with this clash being one of the more crucial encounters in a tight race for European qualification in Serie A, the noise generated should be unforgettable! That will certainly be true if this is anything like the reverse fixture, won 3-2 by Lazio, which saw both teams find the net in both halves. Roma will be hopeful of avenging that loss, as they qualified for the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals in midweek and are unbeaten in eight Serie A matches. A never-say-die attitude has helped them in that run, with three of Roma‘s last five goals arriving beyond the 90th minute.

Lazio

Defending the position just one point above their rivals, Lazio have collected two clean-sheet victories in March, and are aiming to win consecutive league H2Hs for the first time since 2012! The free-scoring ‘Biancocelesti’ are amongst the most productive Serie A sides (58 goals), but they have also improved defensively, already keeping six league clean sheets in 2022! With each of the only two historical encounters between coaches Jose Mourinho (Roma) and Maurizio Sarri (Lazio) producing at least four goals, entertainment should be on cards again. However, the latter has ruled out ambitions for a top-four finish, instead of focusing on any type of European qualification for a team that has already scored in both halves in 12 Serie A matches.

Roma’s leading scorer Tammy Abraham has scored 21 competitive club goals this term, including nine-match openers. Opposition striker Ciro Immobile recently became Lazio’s all-time top scorer in Serie A with his 144th goal against Venezia last time out (1-0), and has already contributed to 11 goals across 16 H2Hs. Seven of the last eight H2Hs have seen the same HT/FT outcome.
