Udinese vs AS Roma

The capital side arrive in Udine after winning each of their last three competitive matches 1-0, including their UEFA Europa Conference League fixture against Vitesse in midweek, a win that made Jose Mourinho exclaim that Roma were finally playing like a team.

Udinese

Two goals inside the opening 12 minutes helped Udinese beat similarly-positioned Sampdoria in their last Serie A outing, with Gabriele Cioffi’s side ending the last round seven points above the relegation zone. Two games in hand on most of their closest opponents may now give Udinese belief that they can enjoy a strong end to the campaign. Netting 30 goals after the first 26 rounds for the first time in four seasons, Udinese have shown some positives, mainly thanks to already having two scorers with 8 goals to their name – something they’ve seen only once since 2015/16! In turn, the Udinese faithful may believe that their current 282-minute scoreless run against Roma will finally come to an end.

AS Roma

A quick goal could be crucial here, as ten of the last 11 H2Hs have seen only one team score, with Roma winning nine of those. The capital side arrive in Udine after winning each of their last three competitive matches 1-0, including their UEFA Europa Conference League fixture against Vitesse in midweek, a win that made Jose Mourinho exclaim that Roma were finally playing like a team. That’ll give Roma hope that they can make a late push for a Champions League place, especially as they’re also unbeaten in their last seven league games. That run also gives them the opportunity to equal their longest top-flight run without defeat since August 2020, and another clean sheet would do just that, but while Roma have registered three in a row coming into this clash, the last time Roma registered four consecutive shutouts was back in 2018!

Gerard Deulofeu has scored inside the first five minutes in each of Udinese’s last two home matches, opening the scoring four times this Serie A season. Nicolo Zaniolo has responded to recent transfer speculation by making himself even more visible, having registered one goal, four assists, three yellow cards and one red across his last seven appearances! Roma’s 15 league goals scored in the 31st-45th minute period is the second-most during this time across Europe’s top-five leagues this season.
