Shane Warne, the cricket legend of Australia and one of the greatest leg-spinners, has died at the age 52.

According to the statement of his management company, Warne has died due to a heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand.

“It is with great sadness we advise that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samul, Thailand, today, Friday 4th March,” said the statement.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived, the family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”

Rod Marsh also died on Friday after suffering from a heart attack last week, which makes Warne’s death the second devastating news for Australian cricket in 24 hours. Warne condoled his demise 12 hours before his death: “Sad to hear the news that Rod Marsh has passed.

He was a legend of our great game & inspiration to so many young boys & girls. Rod cared deeply about cricket & gave so much-especially to Australia & England players. Sending lots & lots of love to Ros & the family. RIP mate,” he tweeted.

The police has said that the death was not treated as suspicious and that Warne’s associates who were staying at the same villa as him tried to revive him but it was unsuccessful.

Known as one of the finest leg-spin bowlers ever, Warne took 708 test wickets, which was only surpassed by Muttiah Muralitharan, the off-spinner of Sri Lanka, who took 800.

He also won the man-of-the-match award in the 1999 World Cup Final after Australia beat Pakistan.

Tributes have been flooding since the news of his death came out. David Warner, Australian cricketers, sent his thoughts to the families of Warne and Marsh.

“Two legends of our game have left us too soon. I’m lost for words, and this is extremely sad.” Warner said in a post on social media. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the Marsh and Warne family. I just can not believe it. Rip, you will both be missed.”
