Solskjaer hails United team after dashing West ham top-four hopes
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised his side for a good start, to a “massive” week after a 1-0 win.
United, who bounced back from Europa League’s home disappointing results at the hands of AC Milan, beats West Ham 1-0. United was lucky as Dawson’s own goal became the decisive goal that separated the two sides at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer said, “It’s been a big week for us.”
“The last few league games, big games near the top of the league. And we’re starting to build some momentum in the league. Of course, now we opened the gap further to West Ham, which was important for us.
“We want to improve on last season. We want to get to a final, we want to move up the table,” he added.
“This week was always going to be massive. The reaction after the disappointment of the late equalizer Milan scored was really good.” He explained the impact, “Because you never know how that can affect you.
“I thought it looked like everyone wanted to show what they could do in the first 15-20 minutes. Maybe a little bit too eager, lacked a bit of composure. The attitude was spot on, though, and then we got the composure, we built more and more pressure and momentum,” he continued.
Meanwhile, David Moyes sits out of any mid-week action after the frustrating Old Trafford defeat before welcoming Arsenal this weekend.
“I don’t know about (this being a) missed opportunity, but what it is was a chance for us to pick up three points. Which we didn’t do tonight,” the Scottish said.
“Overall I don’t think we did enough to earn it,” the former Red Devils coach said.
He added, “Overall I wasn’t convinced with the performance tonight,”
United are traveling away to meet Pioli’s men for the Europa league tire on Thursday before clash with Leicester for the cup tier. On the other hand West Ham United are welcoming Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
