Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a chance to hit back at his Ex-Manchester United Teammates Roy Keane and Gary Neville.
Keane and Neville have spoken openly about Solskjaer’s performances at Old Trafford since he took over from Jose Mourinho. The Norwegian has however gotten the chance to hit back at his former teammates who have been appearing as pundits on Sky Sports. He insists that the pair knows the demand at the club.
“They know the demands of Man United, the standards that we set,” Solskjaer said.
“So when they get angry with us, that’s fine, that’s just their jobs,” the former Red Devils striker added.
“They’ve both been managers, so they know the standards here, and they know the demands of a manager. So they know what we’re going through every single day,” the Norwegian continued. “How successful they’ve been… they know themselves.”
Both former players have had managerial positions and they are not new to the tasks Solskjaer does at the club. Keane has taken jobs at Sunderland and Ipswich in the past that saw him sacked for the poor results. Keane’s personality led to fractured relationships and that ended costing him his job.
Neville, on the other hand, has had a one-time managerial position with the Spanish side Valencia. Valencia sacked him after poor results that saw the La Liga side slip off to 14th in the log.
Also, Solskjaer talked about their old days at Old Trafford and how the former teammates faired.
“We listened more to Roy than we did to Gary, that’s for sure!”
“Gary was always talking too much, and he still does. That’s just Gary and we’ve got used to it,” he stated.
“He’s got good opinions, and both of them were very vocal. But if there’s one you wouldn’t go against, it’s Roy Keane,” he concluded.
