Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he has a Manchester United attack just as good as the one which led Sir Alex Ferguson to glittering success.

Solskjaer is preparing his United squad to resume battle with Liverpool having played out a tense goalless draw in the Premier League last weekend. Liverpool head into the FA Cup tie wounded by Thursday’s shock 1-0 home defeat to Burnley, whereas United welcomes Klopp’s men top of the table thanks to their 2-1victory at Fulham.

Additionally, Solskjaer is also buoyant that he boasts a star-studded attack in Marital, Rashford, Greenwood, and Cavani. The manager heaped praise on the foursome by comparing them to Ferguson’s famous forward line which included Sheringham, Cole, Yorke, and Solskjaer himself.

He said, “I used to play in a decent team and the gaffer had four center-forwards at least to choose from and with the four frontmen we’ve got, we have players to choose from who can get us goals in any game, against any opposition”.

“I’m very pleased with the ones I’ve got and we’re working hard to get the relationships with all of them so we can use them in different ways and sometimes maybe all four of them will play”.

Solskjaer enjoyed his fair share of success against Liverpool in his playing days, including netting the winner against them in an FA Cup fourth-round tie on 24th January 1999.

That triumph helped build momentum in what proved a remarkable campaign and Solskjaer hopes this Sunday can be a catalyst for success as the sides meet 22 years to the day later at the same stage.

“Of course we can transform a few things from that season”. Added Solskjaer.

“We know that there’s tight moments, very fine margins. We know in that season we were close to going out against Liverpool. Peter Schmeichel saved a penalty from Dennis Bergkamp in the semi-final in injury time. Those moments, I think they gave us the mental advantage, especially in the semi-final”.

“But against Liverpool as well in that fourth round, when you get that boost of turning 1-0 down toa 2-1 win against a big team, it’s massive. The FA Cup is a run we’ve got to enjoy as long as it lasts. We got to the semis last year and as I said, we’re going to make a few changes but we’ll put a team out there that I hope can go through”.
