Ole Gunner Solskjaer met with the Premier League officials on Wednesday. The meeting aimed to discuss the potential improvements to the VAR system.

Premier League’s head of football relations, Simon Morgan and director of football, Richard Garlick traveled to Manchester to hear Solskjaer’s thoughts. Additionally, they were to discuss changes that would improve the consistency and accuracy of decisions.

Referees Chief, Mike Riley meets with top-flight managers based in the North of England. Solskjaer will be in attendance because of the United’s Europa League match on Thursday at home against Partizan.

However, the manager should have little to complain about. To date, the club has avoided being on the wrong end of any controversial VAR decisions.

The club had two penalties against Norwich after VAR checks, while Rashford’s goal against Liverpool stood. This after video assistant referee deemed there was no foul on Divock Origi in the build-up.

There is no strong objection to how VAR is being used.

However, Thursday’s meeting is more demanding for Riley.

Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, vented his frustration at VAR. His player, Roberto Firmino had a ‘goal’ ruled out for outside during his side’s win at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Klopp, who has claimed his side has been on the wrong end of big VAR decisions this term, has called for clarification about the current use of the system.

Old Trafford is one of only two Premier League stadiums without big screens to keep fans informed when incidents are being considered by VAR with Anfield being the other stadium.

However, we understand some Premier League clubs are concerned about the inconsistencies in what is and is not shown on the screens.

Thursday’s meeting is also likely to feature discussions over the increasingly thorny topic of pitchside monitors.
