Raphael Varane will miss United’s Premier League opening game against Leeds United on Saturday as his deal is not yet 100% done.

On 27 th of July, Manchester United reached an agreement with Real Madrid for Raphael Varane and the France defender is currently in Manchester. However, the 28-year-old is still not a Manchester United player and will not be involved in their first 2021/22 Premier League on Saturday against Leeds United.

Upon his arrival in Manchester, Varane was required to isolate for a period of time according to UK coronavirus travel rules that require people traveling from certain countries to spend a period in isolation. For this matter, he also missed Friday’s league deadline to register him for the weekend as his transfer has not officially been completed.

According to the club coach Solskjaer, he said, “It’s not 100% done yet. He’s not trained with us and we haven’t put all the dots over the I’s and crossed the t’s yet”.

“Things happened and things take time. It’ll be done soon. Unfortunately, it’s the isolation that delayed these things”.

“It always happens and there are little things. The big hold-up was the isolation and quarantine. He’s in Manchester now. Hopefully, it’ll be done soon”

With the season starting, Manchester United is expected to challenge for the title having completed in second place last season. Moreover, much is expected from the club having invested £115.9m to sign the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Contrarily, there are key players that will also miss out on Saturday’s match against Leeds United. Edinson Cavani, Eric Bailly, and Amad Diallo will not be available.

”Edi is in the country. He’s just finishing off his isolation period. He’s had a little bit of extra time for personal reasons”. Said Solskjaer.

“Eric and Amad are also in the country waiting to get the all-clear to join the team again. They’ve had a very exciting summer, of course, been in the Olympics and played games before that as well. So, they should be fir before they come”.
