Hundreds of fans in Seoul gave Tottenham and South Korean national hero Son Heung-min a warm welcome as they arrived for their preseason trip.
Spurs are in town to play Team K-League in the capital city before taking on Sevilla in the LaLiga, and they were greeted by a throng of screaming fans eager to catch a sight of the Premier League players, including fan favorite Son.
Son, the captain of the South Korean national team, had to be sheltered from adoring fans as he made his way through the arrivals area at Incheon International Airport to meet up with the rest of the team.
The arrivals gate was jammed with South Koreans carrying Tottenham jerseys and banners, while the upper level of the terminal was also packed with supporters attempting to take a picture of Son and the Spurs team.
Son, who was already in Seoul, stood in the center of the room waving for the cameras while holding a banner that read ‘Welcome to Seoul’ for his teammates, including Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Davinson Sanchez, Harry Kane, and manager Antonio Conte, while they carried the South Korean flag alongside him.
The 30-year-old attacker was one of Tottenham’s top performers last season, scoring 23 Premier League goals to share the golden boot with Liverpool’s Mo Salah.
In South Korea, he and the rest of his Spurs teammates are preparing for a huge season by regaining full fitness.
Before embarking on the tour, manager Conte has already made five signings: goalkeeper Fraser Forster, wingback Ivan Perisic, defender Clement Lenglet, midfielder Yves Bissouma, and striker Richarlison.
As he seeks to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League crown, he will be thrilled to see that his team has significantly improved.
Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele were all left at home for the trip by Antonio Conte, who also made it abundantly apparent who was not in his plans for the upcoming season.
The signing of Bissouma displaces midfielder Winks, while Perisic displaces left-wing-back Reguilon.
Ndombele and Lo Celso spent the previous season on loan at Lyon and Villarreal, respectively, and are now expected to find permanent departures.
Steven Bergwijn has already been transferred to Ajax as Tottenham begins to purge its deadwood after finishing in the top four previous seasons.
