Son Heung-min earned a share of the top scorer award on the final day of the 2021-22 season.

What did Son Heung-min say?

The South Korean footballer has half-revealed the message Conte gave to the Spurs squad before he won the PL Golden Boot. Tottenham have benefited from Heung-min’s impressive final third instincts consistently over the last seven years and 2021-22 has been his best campaign yet in terms of goals and assists. The striker managed to find the net 23 times in the PL to land a share of the Golden Boot next to Liverpool’s Salah – but only after a dramatic final day.

Tottenham went up 1-0 at midway at Norwich on May 22 thanks to a shot from Kulusevski as they looked to seal a berth in fourth place, but Heung-min still trailed Mohamed Salah on the goalscoring charts. Son Heung-min scored twice in the second period, however, as the Spurs ran out 5-0 winners to send the Gunners to Champions League qualification, and now the player has revealed the role Antonio Conte played in helping him win the maiden Ballon d’Or.

The South Korean striker said at a press conference in Korea that he was happy to be awarded, but he was much happier because his teammates were also delighted. The boss didn’t consider it, he just focused on the Champions League.

But according to Son Heung-min, he spoke part-time with the team to help Sonny score and get the Golden Boots. Son was a little worried because he didn’t have a chance to score, but he cheered up after he said so. Son Heung-min says that when Bergwijn and Moura came on as a substitute, they said they would help him score. It wasn’t easy as they are teammates as well as competitors. Son was very happy for them.

Heung-min doesn’t think he’s world class either

Heung-min’s father recently claimed that the striker has not yet reached world-class levels, while suggesting that he needs to improve more. The Tottenham talisman agrees that he cannot be considered in the elite draw and is open to any opportunities that may come in the future. Son Heung-min says he can’t say anything because it’s his opinion. According to Son, he doesn’t think he’s world class either. There is no such discussion for real world class players. The South Korean says he needs to go higher. Heung-min agrees with him.
