South Africa has announced its strong team for the ODI series against Bangladesh. Fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala have not been fit yet and are not available for this ODI series.

Giving an update on Nortje’s injury, South Africa Cricket Board (CSA) Chief Medical Officer Dr Shuaib Manjra has said that he is not fit for the ODI series and has doubts about playing in the IPL. “He is not fit for the series against Bangladesh. We can’t say anything about the IPL. I think it’s disappointing. He works very hard to stay fit,” he said.

South Africa’s team includes eight such players in the form of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Dwayne Pretorius and Marco Jensen, who are expected to participate in IPL 2022.

The ODI series will end on March 23 and the league is to start from March 26, so some Proteas players may miss the opening matches of the IPL.

Bangladesh team will tour South Africa for a series of three ODIs and two Tests. The matches in the ODI series will be played on March 18, 20 and 23, while the first Test will be played from March 31 and the second Test will be played from April 08.

South Africa on Tuesday announced a 16-man squad for the home ODI series against Bangladesh starting March 18. Sisanda Magala and Enrich Nortje will not be available for the series on the Temba Bavuma-led side.

Magala is out of the team due to fitness and Nortje is out of the team due to his injury. The three-match series will be played at Centurion and Johannesburg, ending on March 23, just three days before the start of the IPL.

South African squad: Temba Bavuma (capt), Keshav Maharaj (vice-captain), Quinton de Kock (wk), Zubair Hamza, Marco Jansen, Jaaneman Malan, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwayne Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen and Kyle Verryenne

Bangladesh ODI squad: Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Najmul Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Ebadat Hossain, Nasoom Ahmed, Yasir Ali, Mahmudul Hasan, Khaled Ahmed.
