Australia’s star cricketer Steve Smith has completed his 8000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in the second innings of the third match of the ongoing series against Pakistan. He touched this figure in the 151st innings and became the fastest batsman to score 8,000 Test runs. Creating this record, Smith left behind many legends including Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Australian vice-captain Steve Smith was dismissed for 17 runs in the second innings of the third Test against Pakistan in Lahore . But before losing his wicket, he made the record of making the fastest 8000 runs t9 his name. Before him, this record was in the name of former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara who had completed 8 thousand runs in 152 innings.

These are the fastest batsmen to score 8000 test runs:

  • Steve Smith – 151 innings
  • Kumar Sangakkara – 152 innings
  • Sachin Tendulkar – 154 innings
  • Sir Gary Sobers – 157 innings
  • Rahul Dravid – 158 innings

Steve Smith had earlier also held the record for the fastest to 7000 Test runs in 2019. Not only overseas, but left behind many Aussie greats by scoring the fastest 8000 runs, some other Australian greats took: Matthew Hayden (164 innings), Ricky Ponting (165 innings), Michael Clarke (172 innings), Allan Border (184 innings) and Steve Waugh (194 innings). That is, he became the fifth and the fastest player in Australia to score the 8,000 Test runs.

Steve Smith achieved this feat in his 85th Test match. He now has 8010 runs in a total of 151 innings. His average in Test cricket is 59.78. He has scored 27 centuries and 36 half-centuries in this format. He also has three double centuries to his name. His highest score in tests is 239 runs. Smith made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2010 at Lord’s.

Smith has achieved this feat at an average of around 60. Earlier, Gary Sauber had achieved this stature at an average of 59.2, Sachin Tendulkar 57.9, Rahul Dravid 57.5 and Kumar Sangakkara at 57.1. In this case too, Steve Smith has now gone to the fore.

Australia is currently playing a three-match Test series on the tour of Pakistan. After this, the Kangaroo team will also play a series of three ODIs and one T20 here. Both of the initial test matches resulted in a draw.

In the last and third test, the guests have given a target of 351 runs to the hosts. On the fourth day, Pakistan has to play around 30-31 overs and the entire fifth day is left to decide the result of this match.
