The second season of hundred format is on its way and 6 Australians will be participating in it.
Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, the men’s T20 World Cup winners from Australia, have both been retained by their English teams for the Hundred format’s second season.
Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, and Amanda-Jade Wellington will be joining their franchise for the second season.
The three Australian women’s stars were retained by their clubs as the eight-team league prepares to field the international superstars.
Last year, Covid 19 restrictions had some effect on the tournament. Most domestic players were in the front because of travel restrictions and international players were bound to withdraw their participation.
However, this year, we will see international stars playing along with each other in a newly emerged cricketing format.
The big show Maxwell will be playing for the London Spirit. Last year, the team performed poorly and finished at the bottom of the table.
Marcus Stoinis and Tim David will be playing for last year’s tournament winners Southern Brave. The team also has English paceman Jofra Archer and inform English batsman James Vince.
Perry will join the Birmingham Phoenix with New Zealand captain Sophie Devine. Healy will be playing for Northern Superchargers who play at Leeds.
Surprisingly, some well known names such as Meg Lanning, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Beth Mooney and Aaron Finch have not been retained.
The 2022 Hundred tournament will be setting off on August 3. The first match will be the men’s match at Southampton between Brave and Welsh Fire.
The tournament will take place after the Australia’s men’s tour to Sri Lanka. This tour is scheduled to take place in June and July, but the dates have yet to be finalised.
Following the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where a women’s T20 tournament will be held, the women’s competition will commence on August 11.
The new 100-ball tournament is still new to the cricketing world. There has been some criticism about its emergence and its effect on test cricket.
The final of the 100-ball competition, whose inception has polarised opinion within the English game, will be held on September 3 at Lord’s.
