El Clasico

Victories from Madrid

  • November 2010, 5:0. Then the current Barca coach Xavi also had a hand in the defeat – he distinguished himself as a player. The rest of the goals were scored by David Villa (he scored a brace), Pedro and Jeffren Suarez, a Catalan graduate who now plays in the second Thai division.

  • January 1994, 5:0. Romario’s hat-trick decided everything in this game. Another goal was scored by former Barca coach Ronald Koeman and midfielder Ivan Iglesias.

  • February 1974, 0:5. Loud victories of “Barcelona” at a party also happened. Then the great Johan Cruyff led Barca to victories, besides his goals scored by Asensi (2), Perez and Sotil.

  • March 1945, 5:0. We are transported to very distant times. For the Catalans, that season ended triumphantly. They won the Spanish Championship for the first time in 15 years, beating Real Madrid by just a point. That is, this is not only a landmark, but also a useful defeat.

  • April 1935, 5:0. So Barca avenged the defeat from Madrid in the first round (got 2:8). The protagonist of the second match is Marty Ventolra, who designed poker. Since then, this score has been included in the Clasico.

  • May 1957, 6:1. This is the second leg against Real Madrid in the 1/4 finals of the Spanish Cup, the Catalans tore apart the opponent after a tense 2-2 in Madrid. As a result, Barca easily jumped into the top 4, then made two pogroms in a row against Sociedad (two times 5:1 each) and beat Espanyol in the final – 1:0.

  • September 1950, 7:2. This is the most goals that have flown into the gates of Real Madrid in the history of Clasico. At Barca, Nicolau (double), Cesar, Aureli (double), Goncalvo and Basora scored. “Madrid Answered only with accurate shots of Molovni and Garcia Gonzalez.

Big wins from Barcelona

In the 21st century, Barca smashes Real Madrid much more often than Real Madrid – Barca. The only high-profile triumph of “Madrid” came in May 2008 – 4:1. But the Catalans have many more such victories – along with today’s already nine. Let’s go chronologically.

  • November 2004, 3:0. This is the first round of La Liga, goals scored by Samuel Eto’o, Giovanni van Bronkhorst and Ronaldinho.

  • November 2005, 0:3. A year later, the same defeat happened away – and this is perhaps the best match in Ronldinho’s career. Then the Brazilian scored a double, handed out passes without looking and easily passed the defenders – including the still very young Sergio Ramos. As a result, the fans gave a standing ovation to Ronaldinho, and he received a standing ovation with the same chic smile.

  • May 2009, 2:6. Here double shot Henry and Messi. Plus, a couple of central defenders helped to this – Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique. Real Madrid responded only with goals from Higuain and Ramos.

  • November 2015, 0:4. In this game, Luis Suarez sparkled – he scored a double. Neymar and Iniesta added another goal.

  • December 2017, 0:3. In the 2017/18 season in La Liga, everything ended without any intrigue. Barça, having defeated Real in the first round (Messi, Suarez and Vidal scored), broke away already by 14 points and calmly reached the gold. Although Neymar was no longer in the team.

  • October 2018, 5:1. A hat-trick by Suarez and goals by Vidal and Coutinho helped wreak havoc on Madrid. This Clasico was the first time since 2007 that neither Leo Messi (broken arm) nor Cristiano Ronaldo (moved to Juve) entered the field.

  • February 2019, 0:3.  The semi-finals of the King’s Cup, which turned out rather strangely. Real Madrid played better than Barca, but got as many as three goals: a double from Suarez and Varane’s own goal. So the Catalans reached the final, where, however, they lost to Valencia (1:2).
