Speculations about Solskjaer’s future as Manchester United boss dominated the headlines on Thursday after the 2-0 home defeat by Burnley.

Solskjaer2Should United lose in the FA Cup on Sunday, they will have been beaten in three successive matches for the first time this season.

Nonetheless, Solskjaer will remain in charge of that match as United remains supportive of the Norwegian.

Yet again, the club is under fierce criticism. After the night supporters chanted against their ownership and executive vice-chairperson, things went haywire for United.

Could it be his last one?

Realistically, United is 3-1 down following the home leg of their EFL Cup semi-final with City. The FA Cup and Europa League is United’s only remaining chances of silverware this season.

The Reds will start favorites to get through against either Tranmere or Watford in the FA Cup. However, danger lurks.

Other than Victor Lindelof who missed the Burnley defeat through illness, Solskjaer will be calling on virtually the seam squad that failed on Wednesday.

Hopefully, there will be no repeat of the mass pre-final whistle exit of Old Trafford from the United fans at either Vicarage Road or Prenton Park.  With that in place, a repeat of songs belted out against the Glazer family and Woodward cannot be ruled out.

Does the problem lie with Solskjaer?

Views about Solskjaer as a manger are mixed at best. The majority of United fans believe their club’s problems go much deeper.

They are angered at a combination of what they perceive to be a lack of investment, huge amounts of money exiting the club in share dividends and finance payments with poor recruitments.

For that, fans hold the Glazer family and Woodward responsible. This explains the reason as to why they are singled out for criticism.
