Super League in Europe or Asia?
While a judicial fight over the Super League is taking place in Europe, other Confederations move briefly and quietly to establish a competition between the best clubs of the continents they represent. After the CAF (African Confederation), whose project is underway and has the approval of Infantino himself, the next to encourage a closed league between its best teams may be the AFC (Asian Confederation). As it transpired in the General Congress that the organization held during these days in Doha, the AFC has already transferred the working group of clubs and competitions to evaluate the feasibility of creating a new tournament in Super League format. It would start from the 2024/2025 season and would have 24 clubs.
Teams from Asia
Bringing together the best teams from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Japan, South Korea, China and Australia is the objective of this project, which would revitalize club football on the Continent. In recent years, the Asian Champions League has lost interest until its last rounds, when teams from the most powerful countries come together. In addition, economic income would skyrocket. Each club would receive 2 million dollars for participating and the benefits for television rights would be fattened, an Achilles heel that in recent years has meant that the Champions League, for example, has ceased to be seen in most of Europe.
