Tahith Chong has revealed that he will be discussing another loan move from Manchester United for the 2021-22 season.

I like Belgium

The high-rated Dutch winger has run the current campaign away from Old Trafford, with periods taken at Werder and Club Brugge. He is enjoying his time in Belgium, previously struggling to make his mark in Germany, and believes regular playing time will contribute to his development as he waits for a big break at his parent club.

Chong said that staying here for another year might give him stability, but that’s for later. “As far as I know, there is no option in the agreement. We will have to discuss this with Manchester United later. I like Belgium. It’s a bit like the Netherlands. Something in my head that by staying here maybe a little more stability can come, but now it’s difficult to fully focus on that.”

The 21-year-old winger is only tied to terms with the Red Devils until 2022, although that agreement does include a 12-month extension option. He faces tough competition for seats in Manchester, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood filling broad attacking roles. Daniel James is another version of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while talks about interest in the Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho refuse to go away.

Chong knew a little about the team

Shooting for the youth teams the Red Devils, Chong was expected to do a lot when entering the senior stage. He made his competition debut in January 2019 against Reading in the FA Cup, and went on to see 12 races across all competitions in the 2019-20 campaign. Premier League football and starting piers, however, proved difficult to come by, forcing the Netherlands U21 international to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Explaining his moves in 2020-21, Chong added: “We thought the selection of Brugge was a good next step. I already knew the club from a year ago, with the Europa League, and we follow Belgian football a bit. I knew a little about the team.
