There aren’t many Japanese players in LaLiga
Takefusa Kubo has made it clear that his goal is to regain trust by following his transfer to Real Madrid in 2019. Since then, the Japanese striker has joined as many as three LaLiga teams – Real Mallorca, Villarreal and Getafe – on loan from Real Madrid. “Expectations and pressures come from what I have done, and it is also true that there are not many Japanese players in LaLiga,” Kubo told reporters. “It’s good for the Japanese players and me that a lot of people play football and come to these leagues. It’s good for a player to play, do things well and come out in the press. We must see this as something good for us. More than duty, I see it as a need for results and games to returning the trust they have put in me. I have to respond to that.”
It’s a very cheerful dressing room at Getafe
The striker has hit the ground running at Getafe, for which he has already become a key starter since his move in January this year. The Japanese has hailed the dressing room at the Madrid-based club. “I am already adapting, getting used to the objects, the field and the people who work here,” said Kubo. “I haven’t been able to learn much yet, but I love everything I’ve seen. It’s a very cheerful dressing room. People talk, they communicate a lot. Sometimes they even talk too much, and I like it. It takes a while for a new player like me or Carles Alena to adapt, but this team was very open to us, and they welcomed us very well.”
Kubo further stressed that the LaLiga has been more competitive in the past few seasons due to its depth. “The truth is that when I was young and watched LaLiga there was a big difference between the teams at the top and the rest and now you see that there are ten teams within six points,” added Kubo. “Teams are a little surprising. You go to the match without knowing what lineup they will be in. They rotate and they all have their weakness, and strengths. There is a lot of equality this year.”
