Takumi Minamino message his old boss about Liverpool team-mates
Takumi Minamino has kept in touch with Salzburg manager, Jesse Marsch through text messages ever since his £7.25 million January transfer to Anfield.
According to Salzburg coach, Jesse Marsch, the Japan International, Takumi Minamino is happy at Liverpool and is working with “good guys”.
Initially, Minamino was unsettled at Liverpool following his £7.25 million moves from Austria and needed time to adapt to his new environment.
Contrarily, his former coach, Marsch reckons he made a mistake in selling the forward too cheaply. But, this is no longer the case and Minamino is happy and has made friends according to the manager.
“He is happy at Liverpool. He has talked about training being good and the guys being good”. Said Marsch.
“Taki will only turn up every day and do everything possible to improve. We’ve texted and checked in on different things. I give him a hard time about learning better English because I had to learn so much German. Now, it is his turn to come to my side a little more.”
“But he knows nothing will be given to him and he is willing to work for whatever. That’s his mentality.”
Minamino has made eight appearances in all competition for the Reds since his January move. The Japan international has been working hard to acclimatize.
Back in March, Minamino spoke out about his trouble settling in. He vowed to prove himself to his new manager, Jurgen Klopp.
“I have been in this club for three months and I haven’t played many games. My playing time is not that much but this is not a good excuse”. He said.
“In order to appeal to my teammates and for them to understand what I’m good at, I have to do what I really need to do”.
“I think I’m still learning to fully understand the team. But I still hate to wait. To make an instant impact and contributions to the team, I’m doing my best every day.”
“I only have limited chances but when the manager needs me, I have to show the results of the manager’s expectations”.
