Taskin Ahmed, the pace bowler and T20I vice-captain of Bangladesh, recently apologized to his teammates for arriving late on the field during their Super 8 game against India in the ICC T20 World Cup. This incident occurred as he missed the team bus due to oversleeping. Consequently, Taskin was not selected to play in the match, where Bangladesh chose to field only two pace bowlers.

According to a senior BCB official speaking to Cricbuzz anonymously, Taskin’s absence from the playing XI was not a result of a conflict with the head coach, Chandika Hathurusingha. The official clarified that Taskin had overslept and missed the team bus, leading to his exclusion from the game against India. However, Taskin later joined the team and played in the following match against Afghanistan.

While Hathurusingha declined to comment on the situation, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the team’s on-field performances, it is evident that Taskin’s late arrival created a minor disruption. Nevertheless, he has apologized to his teammates and acknowledged his mistake. The incident sheds light on the importance of punctuality and discipline in professional cricket, as players are expected to adhere to strict schedules and commitments.
