Delhi Capitals opener David Warner has decided to skip some IPL matches this year. Warner is currently in Pakistan to play the Test series.

Warner has decided to attend the state funeral of his childhood idol, Shane Warne, to be held in Melbourne on March 30. In such a situation, Warner will have to stay away from the first few matches. Delhi had bought him this year for Rs 6.25 crore.

Regarding Warne’s funeral, Warner said, “I will be there, 100 per cent. I will be going home after the third Test in Lahore.

I have grown up watching Warne. It is important to attend his funeral. As a child, I was a part of my family. Used to put his picture in the house. I always wanted to be like Warne. It’s going to be very emotional for everyone. A lot of people will respect.”

When will Warner be back?

Shane Warne’s state funeral is to be held on March 30 and the IPL will start on March 26. Warner will attend the funeral in Melbourne on March 30.

He will be in Melbourne till April 5 as per the instructions of Cricket Australia. Australian cricketers are not allowed to play in the IPL till that period. Warner will reach Mumbai on April 6.

As per BCCI’s COVID-19 regulations, Warner will have to be in quarantine for five days for attending a public event.

After the end of the quarantine, if the COVID-19 report comes negative, they can join the bio-bubble with the team.

Warne’s funeral to be held at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Meanwhile, the body of legendary cricketer Shane Warne has reached Australia a week after his untimely demise in Thailand.

Warne died of a heart attack while on vacation. Thai police have denied any wrongdoing in the incident. Warne will be cremated with state honours at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Ground. Here he took his 700th wicket in Tests.
