TATA IPL 2022: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is to begin from March 26, with Delhi Capitals (DC) starting their campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 27.

Meanwhile, information about the availability of Delhi’s star bowler Nortje has come to the fore. According to reports, fast bowler Nortje will not be able to play the first two matches of Delhi due to fitness.

Nortje will play his first match on 7th April – Report

A DC franchise official told cricbuzz that Nortje will participate in the team’s third match in IPL 15, which is scheduled to begin on April 7. This match will be against Lucknow Super Giants at DY Patil Stadium.

This means that Nortje will not be able to play the first two matches against Mumbai and Gujarat. He has already reached Mumbai and is in Quarantine for the last few days.

International Cricket

Nortje has not played international cricket since November 2021. He has not appeared in any of South Africa’s home international series this season due to injury. He played his last international match in the T20 World Cup.

South Africa is currently playing an ODI series against Bangladesh, which will be followed by a two-Test series.

However, CSA has not selected the players participating in its IPL for the Test series against Bangladesh and has been permitted to play in the league.

Delhi had retained Nortje

Nortje took 12 wickets in eight matches in IPL 2021 at an average of 15.58. Earlier in IPL 2020, he impressed by taking 22 wickets. Nortje was retained by Delhi this time for Rs 6.5 crore even before the auction.

Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Mujarbani will be the net bowler for Lucknow Super Giants. Mark Wood of Lucknow has already been ruled out of this season due to injury.

In such a situation, some media reports had informed that Mujarbani would join the team as a replacement for Wood for the upcoming season of IPL. However, cricbuzz has clarified that Mujarbani has been roped in by Lucknow as the net bowler.
