TATA IPL 2022: The new franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), Gujarat Titans, has got the first setback even before the start of the season.

England cricketer Jason Roy has decided to pull out of the tournament citing bio-bubbles.

While the franchise is yet to comment on who will replace him, the franchise is yet to comment on the matter. But former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that the Gujarat team now has the opener. There will be David Miller or Matthew Wade as the batsman can.

The Gujarat franchise bought England opener Jason Roy in the IPL mega auction for a base price of Rs 2 crore. Jason Roy was expected to make his Gujarat Titans debut alongside Indian batsman Shubman Gill.

Now that Jason Roy has left the league, the opening has become a matter of concern for the Gujarat team. So it looks like one of the two overseas batsmen. David Miller and Matthew Wade, can open in his place.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra tweeted, ‘Gujarat team’s plan will revolve around two left-handed batsmen. Matthew Wade can be seen as the opener and David Miller as the finisher along with Hardik Pandya. Then all eyes will be on the cricket fans who will open for the Gujarat team.

The special thing is that Jason Roy has previously played for Delhi Capitals. The team of Delhi Capitals included him in their team for Rs 1.50 crore in 2020.

Still, though, Jason Roy withdrew from the league, citing the Bio-Bubble. Jason Roy has previously played for Gujarat Lions in 2017. Delhi Daredevils in 2018 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021.

In the mega auction of IPL 2022 held on February 12-13 in Bengaluru. The team of Gujarat Titans bought South African batsman David Miller for Rs 3 crore.

While Australian batsman Matthew Wade was bought for Rs 2.4 crore, the Gujarat team will have Wriddhiman Saha as an opener as an experienced wicketkeeper-batsman.
