Talking about the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in IPL, KKR’s new captain Shreyas Iyer got the responsibility of the Delhi Capitals team as captain in the year 2018.

When Delhi Capitals handed over the command to the team, Iyer was the youngest captain of Delhi at that time.

In the year 2019, Delhi Capitals reached the playoffs only under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. It was the first time in 7 years for Delhi Capitals when the team was able to make it to the IPL playoffs.

Shreyas Iyer further strengthened Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020. In the same season of IPL, Delhi’s team was successful in making it to the final for the first time.

Before IPL 2021, Shreyas Iyer got injured and could not play the first round. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Capitals handed over the command of the team to Rishabh Pant.

In the second phase of IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals did not give the captaincy to Iyer again. Not only this, Delhi Capitals did not even retain Shreyas Iyer for IPL 2022.
