TATA IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals have excellent fast bowling attack, says Fast bowling coach Malinga

TATA IPL 2022: The newly appointed Rajasthan Royals fast bowling coach Lasith Malinga feels the IPL franchise has an excellent fast bowling attack comprising experienced international players and India’s fast and young bowlers.

Malinga, who took 546 wickets in 340 matches for Sri Lanka in all three formats, has been appointed by the Royals as their fast bowling coach ahead of IPL-15.

Malinga said in a media release, “I think we have the best pace attack. We have experienced overseas players like Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile with whom I have worked in the past.

“Also we have genuine Indian fast bowlers in the form of famous (Krishna) and (Navdeep) Saini, who have proved themselves at a high level.

Along with this, there are some new faces in the form of Annual Singh, Kuldeep Sen and Kuldeep Yadav.

Malinga said, “I think small differences matter in T20 cricket and I am here to guide them so that they can perform at their best in all kinds of conditions.”

Malinga, the highest wicket-taker in the IPL, said he is thoroughly enjoying his new role by joining the new franchise.

“Coaching and sharing my experience with young players is a new thing for me. I have done this role earlier with Mumbai and now I am happy to work with Rajasthan Royals. It is a new place, but I am thoroughly enjoying my role here working with talented bowlers.

On joining the Royals after spending 13 years with Mumbai Indians, Malinga said, “Last year Kumar Sangakkara asked me but I didn’t want to be away from the family due to the restrictions of covid and bio bubble.

But after working with the Sri Lankan team this year, I felt that I can give something back to the game from my experience.
