In the Mega Auction of IPL 2022, 600 players were bid. The name of Mr. IPL Suresh Raina was also in this list. A total of 204 players were sold in this Auction. The rest of the players did not get any buyer this time.
Suresh Raina was also one of those players who did not find any buyer. The fans had also expressed a lot of displeasure over Raina being unsold because Raina is one of the most successful players of IPL.
But a good news has come out for the fans of IPL. Mr IPL Suresh Raina is ready to enter this league once again, that too in a different style.
Suresh Raina returns to IPL
After remaining unsold in the IPL auction, Suresh Raina is going to be seen in a new role. Raina, who scored a lot of runs with his bat, will now be seen doing commentary in the IPL.
Team India’s former head coach Ravi Shastri will also be seen supporting Raina. In a conversation with Dainik Jagran, Sanjog Gupta of Disney Hotstar said, ‘Suresh Raina is not playing this time so we wanted to add him in one way or the other.
He is also known as Mr IPL. Ravi Shastri used to do commentary for us earlier too, he could not do it after becoming the coach of Team India. The important thing is that he will do commentary in Hindi.
The dialect of Mumbai is reflected in his Hindi, so he is taking classes on zoom from our Hindi teacher and notes have also been sent to him.
Raina has been out of IPL before
This will be the second time in IPL history that Raina will not be seen playing in any season. Raina did not even play in the IPL of the year 2020. In 2020, he himself withdrew his name from the tournament.
But in the year 2021, Raina made a comeback and was again seen playing for Chennai Super Kings. This time, Chennai Super Kings did not retain Raina and Raina did not get any buyer in the mega auction, due to which he will now be seen trying his hand in commentary.
Raina’s performance in IPL
Raina was once the highest run-scorer in IPL. Raina has played 205 matches in IPL. Raina has 5528 runs at an average of 32.51. Raina has scored 1 century and 39 fifties in his IPL career.
Raina has more than 500 fours and more than 200 sixes in his name. Raina has played for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions in IPL. Raina also captained Gujarat.
Ravi Shastri will do commentary again
Ravi Shastri will return to the commentary box after a long time. Ravi Shastri is considered a veteran commentator in English but this time he will do commentary in Hindi.
Shastri’s tenure as coach in Team India ended after the T20 World Cup last year, after which Shastri will once again appear in the commentary box. Ravi Shastri was last seen doing commentary in 2017.
