IPL is starting from 26 March. Earlier, Mumbai Police also clarified that they have not received any intelligence about any terrorist threat in the tournament.
Walse Patil said in the assembly that a deceptive news spread about terrorist threat to the IPL matches taking place in Mumbai. Mostly, the news was delivered by media personnel without sources and clarification.
Further, Mumbai Police made it clear that there is no threat to the IPL in Mumbai. The news terrorists spying on public places turned out to be a false news.
The police department has also made it clear that some ‘unverified’ viral messages on social media said that terrorists were spying on the bus route between the two places along with Hotel Trident, Wankhede Stadium, but the police released statement said that they had not received any such information.
Mumbai Police said that it is ready to ensure complete security for the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting from tomorrow. It said that no intelligence has been received about any terrorist threat to this tournament of cricket starting from March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in South Mumbai. Police said proper security arrangements would be made at two stadiums (Wankhede and Brabourne) in the city where matches would be played.
Apart from this, proper security arrangements will also be made in the hotels where the players and support staff have stayed. Police officials have been asked to visit stadiums and hotels ahead of matches as well as police protection will be provided to buses carrying players from hotels to stadiums.
The first match of the IPL will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede stadium. Thus, Mumbai police are on high alert regarding the course of the event. However, this is not the first time when such a news has come into perspective.
