The situation
Atletico goes to the transfer market with a lot of trouble and, beyond Witsel, is waiting to make transfers to start signing reinforcements. Some of those sales began to be talked about last summer, but they did not come to fruition. Morata and Saul went on loan (the striker was already on loan and extended) with purchase options, but neither Juventus nor Chelsea have executed them when the time has come. And it would have been about 70 million that would have been very good for Atleti. Morata left for Turin in 2020 at a rate of 10 million for each of the two years on loan and an option whereby Juventus could keep him for another 35 million. At the end of the loan, on the 15th, the striker returned to Atlético because the Bianconero club does not even reach 20 million, a figure that the people of Madrid consider insufficient. The case is not yet closed , although at the moment his role is that of an Atleti footballer and what seems clear is that those 35 million will not enter the red and white accounts.
Two ‘signings’ wanting revenge
Atleti did not sell either Morata or Saul, they were left without those 70 million with which they could have covered holes and gone on the market, but in return they have two level footballers that Simeone can put to good use. The striker was a regular starter before leaving and the midfielder ended each season among the most rojiblancos employed, even in the last year when he lost some confidence. Morata and Saúl were the cases with the most hype , but not the only ones. Grbic also left on loan to Lille with a purchase option, this one for about eight million. The goalkeeper’s season in France has gone from more to less and he also returns to Atlético. The Croatian could go out on loan again, since he has offers from the First Division and from abroad.
