The Bianconeri agree to move Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich
Matthijs de Ligt is close to leaving Turin three years after his arrival from Ajax.
Bavaria has submitted a new proposal for Matthijs de Ligt
The Bianconeri are compiling a list of possible replacements for the Dutch defender as the player prepares to leave the club. Negotiations between the Old Signora and Bayern Munich have now reached the final stages, with an agreement on a deal that could reach around €80m with additions now agreed. The sale will leave the Italian giants short at the back, but they plan to move quickly to find a suitable successor for the Dutchman.
Bayern submitted a new bid for Matthijs on Sunday, which was accepted. The Bundesliga club is willing to pay an initial fee of €70m plus another €10m in surcharges to get their goal. The offer was slightly under what the Bianconeri expected to get for Matthijs de Ligt, but they nevertheless decided to move forward with the move.
Bayern’s intention is to reach an agreement as soon as possible to allow the defender to face his new teammates well before the first Bundesliga weekend on 5 August. The Blues were also interested in the defender but switched to other targets when it became clear that Matthijs de Ligt wanted to join Bayern.
Juve is already making a list of possible replacements
The Dutch international has arrived at the Bianconeri as Juventus’ next great center after dazzling with Ajax in his youth. But Matthijs de Ligt never lived up to expectations in his three seasons in Turin despite helping the club to the Serie A title in his debut season in 2019-20.
Villarreal’s Pau Torres is one of the names on their shortlist to replace the defender, although the Spaniard is not a priority for the club’s management. The Gunners’ Gabriel, Fiorentina’s Geison Bremer and Nikola Milenkovic are also targets, although the latter appears to be a difficult prospect with Inter set to complete the move for the Torino player this summer.
