Marquinhos is expected to be Arsenal’s first signing in the summer transfer window.

How much will the deal cost?

The Gunners have agreed a deal to sign the Brazilian player. Arsenal have been in extensive talks with Sao Paulo over the past week over the Brazilian winger and an agreement has now been reached. The final details are yet to be worked out before a deal can be struck, but the 19-year-old is now expected to be Mikel Arteta’s first transfer window signing.

There is information that the fee for the Brazilian will be about £3 million. The Gunners took advantage of a contract loophole to land the forward for such a low price, with Sao Paulo having to reluctantly accept the offer over fears he could leave for free despite his current deal, which does not expire in 2024. Personal conditions are not expected to be an issue.

A little about Marquinhos

The Brazilian is a talented young forward who mainly operates as a winger – but he can also play through the centre. Marquinhos is left-footed and comfortable on either wing, although his preferred role is wide on the right so he can carve inward on his favored foot. The Brazilian player broke through to the Sao Paulo side as an 18-year-old, making his debut against Flamengo in July 2021.

Plans of the Gunners on Marquinhos

The young player signs up as one for the future. Provided the deal goes through without a last-minute disruption, he could be given the opportunity to work with the first team during the pre-season. If Marquinhos impresses, he could earn himself a place on a US summer tour.

His arrival will not affect the Gunners’ main summer transfer plans as Arsenal look to bring in two senior attacking stars. Talks are ongoing for a possible move for Gabriel Jesus from Man City, with the North London club also interested in Tammy Abraham, Jonathan David and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
