The Hundred 2022: Reason why Babar Azam remained unsold in Hundred; Check

The England and Wales Cricket Board conducted the auction for the upcoming second season of The Hundred on 5 April.

In the first draft, all 8 teams placed bets on both male and female players. But during this time many big players remained unsold, including Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Cricket experts as well as fans were surprised to see Babar Azam not getting the contract for The Hundred 2022.

However, now a report has surfaced that the modern-era swashbuckling batsman himself was not keen on playing The Hundred in 2022 considering Pakistan’s upcoming international events.

The Pakistani captain was one of the few players to have placed himself in the highest category of £125,000 for The Hundred 2022 draft.

Surprisingly, a total of eight teams participated in the draft, but none included the world’s top T20 International batsman in their squad.

Babar Azam was not keen to play in The Hundred 2022

According to reports, the right-handed batsman never expressed his desire to be a part of The Hundred 2022.

He wanted to stay fresh for international matches, so no team picked him in the auction.

A source told The News: “Babar Azam never applied for NOC for the English summer. This means he is not interested for The Hundred despite being one of the few overseas players who are ranked in the top-class.
