When India take on Australia in the World Test Championship starting tomorrow, the team will definitely miss wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant in the middle order because he is out of the team as he recovers from the injuries sustained in an accident last year december. Apart from being the most consistent batsman in test cricket in recent years, he has also developed into a reliable wicketkeeper, but due to his absence, India now has to decide who will play during the crucial test.

The team has KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan as options now, Kishan has not played a Test for India yet, and on the other hand, Bharat proved his mettle as a wicketkeeper earlier this year in the series against Australia at home . However, while batting, he made a top score of just 44 runs in the four-match series. Now, Bharat is working on some consequential advice from MS Dhoni regarding wicket-keeping in England.

During IPL 2023, KS Bharat was part of the Gujarat Titans, although he never got to play a game the entire season and thus was part of the runner-up squad to MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the finals. During the IPL, Bharat had a conversation with the former Indian captain, during which MS talked about his experiences of wicketkeeping in England and also told KS what would be best for any wicketkeeper.

On ICC, Bharat said, “It was a very good conversation, and a lot of information came out of it. The awareness MS Dhoni maintains is excellent. Dhoni has played 12 tests in England during his glorious international career. You need intention and passion to become a keeper, because keeping is an unenviable job. There are 90 overs in a test match and you have to focus on each ball, we have to accept challenges and embrace them. With this, you also have to be very passionate about contributing to the team.

The match will be fierce
