Gravina, president of the Italian federation, sends a clear message to Agnelli that a few weeks ago he recognized that his intention is to move forward.
Serie A against Super League
Gabriele Gravina, president of the FIGC, has sent a resounding warning to Juventus during a long interview with La Repubblica. The Piedmontese club is still embarking on carrying out the Superliga project, but the Italian federation does not want to hear about the project, despite acknowledging that European football needs drastic changes. “The Super League contract is a project hypothesis. If it were to come true, Juventus would be excluded from the Italian championship. The Super League is the wrong response to a real need. Italy must also think about how to improve the quality of the championship and make it more attractive for expanding markets such as the Arab one.
Agnelli believes in Super League
Andrea Agnelli, president of Juventus, explained a few days ago that the Super League was an “unfailed” idea and stressed that the contract signed a few months ago was still “binding” for eleven clubs, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético, among them. His intention is still to go forward, but in Italy they are being equally forceful against it. Almost a year ago the Italian federation covered its back in the form of regulations, to curb the desire of Juventus. A rule was approved that prevents Italian clubs from enrolling in competitions not recognized by FIFA or UEFA and therefore by the Italian federation.
