Anthony Martial has indicated that he wants to leave the club during the January transfer window.

A little about the topic

The Red Devils rejected Sevilla’s approach to lease the Frenchman. The League side is interested in loaning the French striker before the end of the season, but it is clear that their initial offer would not cover the striker’s salary and Man Utd turned it down. French footballer Anthony Martial told Rangnick that he is looking for a new challenge after battling for playing time this season.

Man Utd has not made a final decision on whether or not to send Martial on loan during the January transfer window. The player has made it clear that he wants to leave, but the club – if they decide to let him go – would like any deal to cover his wages as well as provide payment for the loan.

Understandably, Sevilla’s offer to lease the 26-year-old for the rest of the season was only to cover half of his wages and was subsequently turned down. Sources say that the Spanish side does not have a budget to pay all of his salaries and it is clear that their budget is in the range of € 3-4 million.

What did Rangnick say about Anthony Martial?

Ralf Rangnick confirmed last week that Anthony asked to leave when the transfer window opens, after his agent said earlier this month that the player would look elsewhere for playing time. Ralf Rangnick said they talked for a long time. Anthony Martial explained to him that he has been at Man Utd for the last seven years, and he believes it is time for a change, to move elsewhere.

Ralf thinks this is understandable in a way. Rangnick could follow his thoughts, but on the other hand it is also important to see the club’s situation. They have some rough times, they have three competitions in which they still have high ambitions and want to be as successful as possible.

According to Ralf Rangnick, it should not only be in the best interests of the player, but also in the interests of the club. So far, as far as Rangnick knows, there have been no offers from any other club. As long as this is the case, Anthony Martial will remain.
