The Reds are interested in Gleison Bremer, but Inter have pole position to acquire him
Gleison Bremer is likely to leave Turin this summer, but a move to Anfield will depend on travel.
Today’s situation
The Reds are among the clubs that track the progress of Torino’s center player. However, a move to Anfield still seems unlikely at this stage, as Inter landed the Brazilian on pole position this summer. Gleison, which is also attracting interest from Juve, has enjoyed an outstanding Serie A campaign and is expected to leave Turin at the end of the season.
Gleison joined Torino from Atlético Mineiro in 2018 and has since made over 100 appearances for the club. The player’s form this season in particular has led to interest from a number of clubs across Europe and the Reds are one of those who have made unofficial inquiries in recent weeks. Gleison is valued at €25m and Torino is understood to be resigned to losing him at the end of the season. Inter have already been in talks for a possible move and are strong favorites to land the Brazilian, while Juve is also believed to be keeping a close eye on developments.
What can happen?
A move to Anfield looks unlikely, though not impossible, right now. The Reds already have four centre-backs with Gomez, Matip, Konate and Van Dijk. Of the four, Joe Gomez’s future would be the least certain. England have started just eight games this season and only two in the PL, and there have been speculations that the 24-year-old could continue in search of regular football.
Newcastle and Aston Villa are linked but Joe is determined to stay at Merseyside and that he is still seen by Klopp as part of the Reds’ long-term plans. Liverpool are likely to sell one centre-back this summer, Nat Phillips, who is currently on loan at Championship club Bournemouth, while Rhys Williams and Van den Berg are expected to go on loan next season. Sepp van den Berg had a high-scoring campaign with Preston, while Rhys returned with the Reds under-23s after a poor run at Swansea.
