Courtois is 100 per cent sure Hazard will stay at Madrid
The future of Eden Hazard remains a mystery, but Thibaut Courtois now insists that the forward will not go anywhere and will stay at Real Madrid beyond this summer. The club has put him on the market, although his teammate for the club and country has no doubts about where Hazard will play his football in 2021/22. “I’m 100 per cent sure he will stay; he doesn’t want to leave,” the goalkeeper said in an interview. “Only the Madrid press writes about the desire to leave. He wants to continue, play without injury and win titles. At Real Madrid, there is always criticism all the time and for everyone. Gareth Bale was criticised, but he won the Champions League and scored a double in the final in Kyiv. In Lisbon, he scored against me in the final too.”
Eden can still change everything
“We all know there is pressure and criticism from the press and fans in Madrid, but Eden will handle that. I know him well enough to say it; he can still change everything. It was a shame to see him in trouble. I have known him for a long time, and we talked a lot about imagining how to play together for Real Madrid. He still wants to be an important player for Real Madrid and win titles, this season, he worked a lot in the gym, and he is in good shape. Physically stronger than ever, in training, he looks outstanding, like he used to be with the national team or at Chelsea. If he can play a bit against Croatia and be important at the Euros, it would be great for the national team, but also for him and Real Madrid next season.”
The former Atletico Madrid keeper also assessed the campaign, which left Real Madrid without a trophy, with his former club lifting the LaLiga trophy. “In the league, it was more than Atletico could lose it than we could win it; they were ahead for a long time,” Courtois insisted. “There were some strange judging decisions that cost us wins.
