Thomas Meunier feels Neymar’s level has dropped since he moved to the Parc des Princes from Barcelona.

Thomas talks about Neymar

The Belgian player has claimed that the Brazilian has lost his magic since joining PSG. Thomas Meunier was a huge fan of Neymar when he arrived at the Parc des Princes from Barcelona in a world record deal in 2017, but feels his former teammate’s level has dropped in France. The Brazilian superstar has made fewer than 150 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain in the past five years amid a hard-fought injury and has only shown flashes of brilliance that have seen him become a global superstar at the Camp Nou – much to Thomas’ dismay.

Thomas Meunier, who spent three seasons with the Brazilian in Paris before moving to Dortmund in 2020, said he must admit he was a big Neymar fan when he was still playing at Barcelona. According to Thomas, in Paris, however, Neymar lost his magic from his point of view. The return is all about him. The Belgian says that if he was 10, Thomas would have his poster in his room. Thomas himself endured a difficult time at Paris Saint-Germain, which he entrusted to the former sports director of the club, Leonardo.

Thomas Meunier said he was sidelined in Paris by the then sporting director because he didn’t want to renew his contract. Everything went without him, until the Champions League final – although, according to Meunier, he deserved to be there. Leaving Paris privately was also not easy. His wife, his children, he – they all loved the city. Meunier says it was hard to give up, but over time they managed to adapt as a family.

What did Neymar say?

The Brazilian didn’t take too kindly to Thomas’ criticism, as the Paris Saint-Germain mascot took to social media to issue a reply to his old colleague. Neymar responded to the post showing Thomas’ comments on IG that this boy talks too much.
