Thomas Partey and two other Arsenal players will remain in London when Mikel Arteta’s team departs on Wednesday for their preseason tour of the United States.

Partey, 29, did not travel to Germany for the Gunners’ 5-3 victory over Nurnberg on Friday, a week after returning from a thigh injury to play against Ipswich in a friendly.

According to reports, the Ghanaian midfielder has been removed from their tour of the United States and will instead remain at London Colney with Bernd Leno and Folarin Balogun, where they will increase their fitness in preparation for the upcoming season.

On Sunday, Arsenal will play Everton in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by friendlies against Orlando City and Chelsea in Orlando, Florida, during the next week.

On July 30, they will return home for their final preseason match against Sevilla in the Emirates Cup.

A number of stars, including Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, are set to be among the group of players embarking on their tour of America.

Leno is also nearing a £10 million transfer to newly-promoted Fulham, who are eager to pry him away from north London, where he recently reached his contract’s final year.

Arsenal has signed American goalkeeper Matt Turner to provide competition for Aaron Ramsdale throughout the upcoming season as they prepare for his departure.

Balogun might leave the Gunners on loan this summer after scoring three goals in 18 appearances for Middlesbrough during the second part of last season.

Having missed the final two months of the previous season owing to injury, Partey will be eager to regain his match fitness in the weeks running up to the 2022-23 season.

Foreign travelers may not enter the United States unless they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with certain limitations. Granit Xhaka allegedly denied a vaccination in September of last year, although it is unknown if his opinion has changed.
