Thomas Strakosha says he has dreamed of PL since childhood and is honored to be associated with Chelsea
Albania international and Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha has been contacting the Blues as a player they could bring in on a free transfer.
What did Thomas Strakosha say?
Strakosha found himself without a club this summer after making 208 appearances for the Serie A heavyweights in a ten-year stint in Rome. The Greek-Albanian footballer is now looking for a new challenge and admits that a move to the PL will please him.
Chelsea already have Edouard Mendy in their ranks. The Albanian international spoke about his association with heavyweights in the English top division and how honored he is to be associated with a top club like Chelsea, it’s a dream come true. According to Thomas Strakosha, he has been dreaming about PL since childhood.
A little about Arrizabalaga
Any approach for Thomas is unlikely as long as Arrizabalaga remains at Stamford Bridge and the Blues are already exploring younger additions to Tuchel’s squad that boast potential for future growth. There has been much talk of a move elsewhere for the Spanish player who remains the most expensive keeper in world football following his £71m move to England in 2018. Kepa Arrizabalaga has since slipped down on orders, leading to talk of a transfer setup, but no buyer has been found and no place has opened up in Chelsea’s ranks.
Will the blues accept Thomas?
A lot has to happen for Greek Albanian player Thomas Strakosha to join the Blues. Senegal’s Edouard Mendy is the undisputed number one, so there could be a slot available as the number 2 goalkeeper if Arrizabalaga is sold.
However, his wages and price remain an issue despite Chelsea being open to selling him. The player wants to leave after losing his role as cup goalkeeper in 2022. The Blues don’t necessarily need to sign a goaltender to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, with his loan star Nathan Baxter ready in the eyes of many for the role.
Chelsea have been very active in signing goaltenders from the Under-13s this summer, with Eddie Beach joining from the Saints and Gabriel Slonina expected to join from the Chicago Fire. Neither of these two young goalkeepers will immediately have first team roles, but will hope to make it to Stamford Bridge one day.
