Former Blues coach Thomas Tuchel would be interested in coaching Spurs if the Italian manager leaves his post at the helm.
How was everything?
Antonio Conte has come under fire in recent weeks, with the Spurs five points clear of the Champions League places after playing more than the Red Devils in fourth place. The gap between rivals and league leaders the Gunners has stretched to 14 points since Sunday’s derby day defeat, and with Antonio’s refusal to commit his future to the club after the season ends, Tottenham may consider other options.
If that were the case, the former Blues manager would be interested in the role, despite his previous allegiance. Thomas Tuchel led Chelsea to only the second Champions League trophy in the club’s history, less than half a year after taking office, and many supporters were left shocked by his departure at the start of that campaign, just months after the start of the Boehley-Clearlake era in West London.
However, fan sentiment could change if the German makes a short trip north to Tottenham, the Blues’ longtime rivals. For his part, the German tactician is believed to have enjoyed living in London, and was rumored to have been keen on working in England until the announcement that English manager Gareth Southgate would stay on. Thomas Tuchel also refers to the study of Spanish, which suggests that a potential job offer in La Liga may be in the future.
The Italian manager’s demand for Tottenham’s board to be more transparent with his transfer strategy has been backed by the Spurs Trust.
What does the THST statement say?
Spurs head coach Antonio Conte hit the board after growing tired of explaining Tottenham’s business decisions on his own and proceeded to call it a “bad habit”. THST also joined the chorus and demanded clarification from the board explaining their vision and strategy.
The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust said in a statement that two weeks ago they asked the THFC board to lay out their strategy and vision. According to them, Antonio Conte asked for the same thing. Everyone understands that in order for this club to have a chance of success, the vision and strategy of the board and the leader must be aligned. The statement said they understand the widespread dissatisfaction among Tottenham fans who have faithfully supported the club through 22 years of current ownership, years in which success on the pitch has not matched the team’s rising cost of viewing.
It is time for the club’s board of directors to refine their approach to achieving success on the court and to commit the necessary resources and support to ensure this. The club cannot continue drifting from one approach to another. They are calling on the club to reconsider its decision not to answer key questions raised by The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust and many individual supporters until February and to provide those answers now. This is quite possible without prejudice to the commercial position of the Club. Tottenham fans deserve more clarity about the club’s aspirations, they say.
A little about the topic
Tottenham Hotspur are fifth in the PL and five points behind the Red Devils, having played a game more. Antonio Conte wants further gains before the January window closes after adding Clement Lenglet, Yves Bissouma, Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, Richarlison and more in the summer.
