Timo Werner is grateful that the Chelsea faithful have not turned their backs on him as he continues to fight for consistency.
A little about Timo Werner
The German footballer has opened up about his poor goalscoring record at Chelsea, admitting he doesn’t know why fans support him. Timo arrived at Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2020 boasting an impeccable reputation as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, but after a season and a half he has yet to recoup the £47.5m invested in his talent. The German striker has just 18 goals to his name in his first 70 appearances for Chelsea, including a modest total of six so far this season, and he is well aware that he does not deliver on a consistent basis.
What did Timo Werner say?
The German striker is resigned to having the Blues believers stuck behind him despite his struggles in the final third, as he said sometimes, he doesn’t even know why they support him so much because, as a striker, they want to score like as many goals as possible, and sometimes he misses this goal. According to Timo Werner he should be honest about it but Timo thinks it’s a lot of fun to play in front of the Chelsea fans and when they give you the support they give him it makes them even stronger when they miss chances or when they’re having a hard time.
On the other hand, Timo thinks he tries his best in every game. Werner gives it 100 percent every time and hopes that in the end the fans are happy and also that the team is happy. According to Timo Werner it’s hard to explain, but of course when they go to the stadium and fans like you and they support you and they shout his name, it makes him much more fun and makes him more proud than the other way around, because Timo knows what it’s like to go to stadiums and the fans don’t like them and they hate them. So it’s very nice and very, very good to feel it in reverse.
