Christian Eriksen has been linked with a January transfer to Man United, Inter Milan and Paris St-Germain. Meanwhile, Tottenham could get a player in return.

Eriksen’s transfer from Tottenham seems to be a matter of when and not if. Speculations around the 27-year-old’s future have been rife for some time with Man United, Inter Milan and PSG showing their interests to the player.

It is that Eriksen will not discuss a new deal with Tottenham. And so, all that remains to be organized is whether he remains in North London for the rest of the season or if any club can tempt Tottenham with an offer in January.

If it doesn’t happen, the Denmark international will be able to walk away for nothing during the summer window.

Inter Milan seems to be the closest to sealing a deal for Eriksen. However, there is still a doubt over where his future could lie. He still could see out his contract at Spurs should an agreement not be reached.

Eriksen on his future

The midfielder dropped a transfer bombshell by claiming he would like to try something new following several speculations that concerned his future.

“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.” Said Eriksen.

“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.”

“I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan. In football, you never know when there could be a decision like that. It could be at any point. The best thing is always for it to happen quickly. But in football things take time.”

Asked about the new move to Real Madrid, he added, ‘Real Madrid is a step up. But then it would take Real Madrid picking up the phone and making contact with Tottenham and say they want Christian. And that they haven’t done as far as I am concerned.”

“It all depends on Daniel levy and there has to be another club too. Or I will sit down myself at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can’t set a date yourself. There aren’t many boxes that Tottenham don’t tick so if I have to move away, it would have to be a step up.”

“If there are not exciting offers why shouldn’t I stay in Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract, it depends on the conditions.”
