According to Antonio Conte, Tottenham’s January transfer window, has made the squad weaker.

Antonio Conte had previously stated that his team had only a “one percent” chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season.

Tottenham is in eighth place, seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, but they have three games in hand. On the back of three Premier League defeats in a row, they travel to City this weekend.

Only Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur joined Spurs last month, while Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, Dele Alli, and Giovani Lo Celso all left. ‘In January, four players left.

Two of Tottenham’s most crucial players have arrived. So, instead of reinforcing numerically, you may have weakened on paper,’ Conte remarked.

‘Bentancur and Kulusevski are perfect Tottenham prospects since the club is looking for young players who can develop and progress rather than players who are ready.

‘That is the problem.’ I’ve realized now that this is the club’s vision. It’s unavoidable that if you want to grow and become more competitive faster, you’ll need people with a lot of experience because they’ll also enhance your team’s experience.’ Spurs’ prospects of qualifying for the Champions League next season have also been slashed by Conte.

‘I’ve always stated that I simply have to have a 1% chance of winning the league,’ he remarked. ‘It’s funny since I think I have a 1% chance of finishing fourth here.’

‘The level of competition in this league is quite strong, and there isn’t much room for anyone other than the elite teams.

Despite this, Conte stated that Spurs had nothing to be concerned about.

‘It’s critical not to be afraid,’ he continued. ‘We need to be motivated to fight.’
