Villarreal players are focused on the match against Manchester United

Unai Emery has acknowledged that his players may not be entirely focused on their LaLiga match against Real Madrid, ahead of their UEFA Europa League final with Manchester United. The Emery’s men, who will face the Red Devils four days after the game at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano, are pursuing Europa League qualification for next year. “The order of preference is that first comes the game we play in the tournament in which we are in,” the coach said at a press conference. “LaLiga is the one that marks our stability and the objective that should be in Europe. We have already run out of choices to finish among the top four.”

“Then there is the UEFA Europa League and LaLiga Santander, which is the only one that gives us entrance to this. And then there is the UEFA Conference League, which should not be shameful because it is a European competition.”

Europa League is ambitious

“We have the option to play for the title, which is as important as the Europa League. The Europa League is ambitious, and the LaLiga is important. We will have an eye on the Red Devils game on Saturday. It’s important that we play on Saturday and I think we deserved it because we represent Spanish football in the final.” Emery has continued on to break the attributes which have led his squad all the way to the Europa League final this campaign. “We are very proud of the tour we made this year in the Europa League,” added Emery. “For consistency, trust, seriousness and for giving something special to this competition.”

“It rewarded us for giving each game the right value, using a variety of resources within the squad, which made us advance to this final with the pride, satisfaction and the joy of deserving it. And just as we respect all opponents, we respect Man United. Therefore, we consider ourselves capable of being able to earn the trophy. Now, this adaptation should be focused on one game, and we are going to do it. We will play with the confidence that we have done so far.”
