United is reportedly in pole position Sancho and Haaland in the January transfer window. Solskjaer is aware his squad needs reinforcements despite their recent upturn in form. In this case, the two players are of interest to him.

Solskjaer seems not to be fooled by his side’s recent return to form. The Red Devils appear to have rediscovered some of their old swagger with important victories over AZ Alkmaar, Manchester City and Tottenham.

Speaking after United’s win, Solskjaer opened up on transfer plans by saying, “We are looking to strengthen in many positions.”

“We are getting there but we still need two or three players to have enough numbers.”

The club looks confident of landing their two top transfer targets, Sancho and Haaland.

Sancho may wear Sanchez’s No 7

Sancho is an attracting interest to Chelsea and Liverpool. However, United believes they are leading the charge to sign the Borussia Dortmund player.

The obvious pick for Sancho would be the No 7 shirt.

It is a big deal at United with the likes of Ronaldo, Beckham, Cantona and George Best donning it over the years.

The number is currently vacant with Alexis Sanchez spending the campaign on loan at Serie A giants, Inter Milan.

For Dortmund, Sancho wears the same Jersey. Nonetheless, No 11 could also be an option.

Erling Haaland

Haaland wears No 30 for Red Bull Salzburg. He may opt to keep that same number should he join United.

However, he may fancy wearing either No 7 or No 11 if he were to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Strikers love anything with a nine in it. So, 19 is another potential number for the Norway international.

That number has been vacant since Marcus Rashford switched to No 10 at the start of last season.

But whether United can bring in both Haaland and Sancho remains to be seen.
