Now the opponents have learned more. Tactics are winning over individual talents. I don’t want to think about elimination. That would be a huge blow. We are looking at a very unusual season.”
The 55-year-old went on to talk about the side he formed with Real Madrid back in the 1980s and then again in the 1990s, first talking about Juanito, or Juan Gomez, and some memorable comebacks. “Juanito’s image remains engraved in history,” added Martin Vazquez. “That dressing room celebration expressed the feelings of the whole stadium. These comebacks were protecting the group. We had young players, but also guys with a lot of character. It was clear that we were going to give it all to try and that we were sure that we could do it. We had motivational talks with each other.”
