The Nigerian footballer, who has been heavily linked with the Gunners during the current transfer window, has revealed that a near-death injury picked up in November 2021 left him with 18 screws in his jaw. Victor Osimhen was forced off the field at the start of the second half during the Serie A competition at San Siro after a painful head-on collision with Inter’s Milan Skriniar. It took a lot of surgery to connect his face to a man who still scored 18 goals across the entire campaign, overall lifting the lid on an incident that was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

The Nigeria striker said the injury he had against Inter Milan was like a near-fatal injury. According to Victor Osimhen, he is the only one who felt it and he can only talk about what he felt because it was his face and body. But to be able to get up without using a stretcher, get out of the field on his own, then Osimhen knew that this was something he could handle. For Victor, when he got to the hospital, he told his doctor that he could see for a maximum of two weeks.
Victor added, with the ailment eventually keeping him out of action for the best part of two months before returning with a protective mask, that when the scan came out, he broke a lot of bones that they had to remove and mend inside again. Osimhen has 18 screws under his jaw. Victor has been through a lot. Lots of sleepless nights. The Nigeria striker couldn’t sleep, he couldn’t eat in pain. But according to Osimhen, after all, he is a lion and he knows what kind of mentality he has. Victor Osimhen says he looks like he has already planned his return after the surgery.
