Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of the brightest stars and match winners of team India are struggling to perform well in IPL 2022. Both Rohit and Virat are not getting runs from the bat and it is a worrying sign for their fans.

Cricket pundits and commentators are sceptic about their forms and it’s effect on the upcoming series including world cup. In view of the T20 World Cup, people’s concerns are also bound to happen. But BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is confident that both will return to form.

The T20 World Cup is to be held in Australia this year and India’s performance in the last World Cup was very bad. The team couldn’t even make to the top two in group stage matches.

In such a situation, everyone is expecting good performance from the team this time. But seeing the performance of Kohli and Rohit in IPL 2022, it seems that things will not be easy for Team India this time too.

Talking to Mid Day about this, Ganguly said:

“I am not at all worried about Rohit and Virat’s form. They are amazing players… real big players. The World Cup is still far away and I am sure they will be in their top shape long before the tournament.”

Talking about the stats, so far this season Kohli has scored 236 runs at an average of 19.67 and strike rate of 113.46. Kohli, who could hit only one fifty this season, has been a victim of golden duck thrice. Looking at Kohli’s entire IPL career, apart from the first season, his numbers have never been so bad. Even his decision to quit the captaincy did not work wonder for him.

On the other hand, Rohit has scored 218 runs in 12 matches at an average of 18.17 and strike rate of 125.29. Team India’s captain Rohit has not been able to hit a single fifty this season. Rohit, who got out on single digit score five times in IPL 2022, also has a duck in his name this season. Rohit’s team, who has won IPL five times, is going through a very bad phase this time. Mumbai was the first team to be out of the IPL this time.

If you look at the schedule of Team India before the World Cup, then they have to play a lot of matches. This season India will play four T20I series before the World Cup. The first series will be against South Africa in June, while after that the team will go to Ireland. From here India has to play against England and then the team will go on the Caribbean tour.
